Redox Signaling

Redox Signaling refers to the process in which free radicals, reactive oxygen species and other electronically activated radicals act as messengers in the biological system. It is basically the process that shows how cells in our body respond to oxidants and free radicals. Redox signaling is a continuous and crucial process, through which human cells communicate with each other and carry out vital body functions.

Redox Signaling Molecules – What are they?

There are two kinds of Signaling molecules – “communicator” and “activator”. These two play the role of messengers and are responsible for the communication between cells throughout our body. Also known as Signaling molecules, they activate the body’s antioxidant compounds – Glutathione, SOD and Catalase.

In simpler terms, Redox signaling molecules are substances that are produced naturally within each cell of the body. When the cells are required to perform various functions, they generate two kinds of signaling molecules.

The first set of “activator” molecules trigger the antioxidants stored in the body. Antioxidants are extremely effective in fighting off the damage caused by free radicals and oxidative stress; however they cannot function unless activated by the signaling molecules. Thus you require the Redox signaling ‘activator’ molecules to get the antioxidants to work.

The second set of “communicator” molecules is responsible for enabling proper communication between the cells of the body, ensuring optimum performance of the immune system and  protecting the body against external stimuli such as harmful bacteria, viruses etc. The millions of cells in our body are able to properly communicate and function because of the Redox signaling molecules.

Why is Redox signaling so important?

Both the internal and external factors such as stress, toxic chemicals, bacterial infections, poor nutrition etc affect our health in an adverse way. This causes significant cellular damage and a reduction in Redox signaling molecules. Without an adequate supply of Redox signaling molecules the antioxidants and immune system are unable to function effectively, leading to a vast range of health ailments.

Researchers and scientists worldwide have been conducting several studies on the Redox signaling molecules to understand more about their structure, impact and function with respect to human health. Let’s take a look at some of the popular studies on this subject:

White, Blue-eyed Cats are Deaf

Charles Darwin, the father of evolution had mentioned “white cats with blue eyes are almost deaf”. He proposed that developmental issues with the nervous system might be the cause of deafness in the white, blue-eyed cats. But researchers believe it has something to do with the Redox signaling process, as Central nervous system development is a messenger-mediated process and so is the melanin synthesis.

Thus an imbalance in the Redox signaling process leads to improper melanin synthesis (giving the cat its white color) and leads to defective intra-cellular communication (causing hearing impairment).

Study by Hoffer and Osmond

The first instance of Redox processes being involved in cell signaling was given by Hoffer and Osmond. As per the Adrenochrome hypothesis, “psychoactive oxidative products of catecholamines (adrenochromes) play a role in schizophrenia and other neuropsychiatric diseases”. While the proposed hypothesis still remains in question, the fact that messenger-mediated oxidative stress can result in neuropsychiatric diseases, has been proven correct.

Role of Active Oxygen Species in Ocular and Neurological Diseases

According to a study by P. H. Proctor, D.S Kirpatrick, L.A Morehead, J.E. McGinness, J.G. Hilton, & J.A. Hokanson on the role of active oxygen species in neurological disorders,
“Electronically activated oxygen molecules such as superoxide or peroxide are known to be the significant factors responsible for certain disorders of the eye and nervous system. For instance, a person with high levels of homocysteine or copper often shows four characteristic signs – psychotic behavior, movement disorders, deafness and pigmentary abnormalities. Both copper and homocysteine act as catalysts in the production of reactive oxygen molecules, and the above mentioned abnormalities can be a result of the Redox signaling process caused by these reactive molecules.”

This theory suggests that active oxygen species act as specific intermediary transmitters for a variety of biological processes including inflammation and fibrosis.

Aging is also attributed to this kind of free radical damage. The cells are not completely destroyed, but become less efficient. Too many oxidative molecules present in the blood and skin cells causes damage and aging. Improper balance of Redox signaling molecules causes the immune system to attack healthy cells, which divide and further spread the damage.

In Conclusion:

Cells are damaged by factors like sunlight, environmental pollution, toxins, chemicals, infections and other irritants. Damaged cells build up oxidants or free radicals. As a part of the Redox signaling process, the activator molecules trigger the antioxidants that neutralize the free radicals and maintain a balance of oxidative molecules in the body.  Also the signaling molecules ensure that the immune system and cellular communication is functioning at optimum levels.

A lack of Redox signaling molecules disrupts this entire process – the balance of activated oxygen molecules is destroyed, leading to cellular damage and other health ailments.

Redox signaling is a widespread and essential process governing essential cellular activities, and there is an urgent need for new methods of study to assess the role of Redox molecules at the molecular and cellular level. With more products that can restore the balance of Redox molecules in the body, we would have answers and solutions for a wide variety of neurological and physical ailments. ASEA is one of those products. It is actually the only perfectly balanced mixture of stabilized Redox Signaling molecules that exists outside the body.

Boost your body’s supply of essential signalling molecules

Boost your body’s supply of essential signalling molecules

Human cells make something called Redox Signalling Molecules – every single minute of every single day. Without these molecules life itself would be impossible.

You need Redox Signalling Molecules to protect the health of your cells; to detect threats and damage and to repair or replace injured cells.

As we get older the body doesn’t make as many RS molecules as it used to. Bumps and bruises that disappear quickly in children take far longer to repair as we age.

How would your life change if you had a supply of Redox Signalling Molecules like you did when you were younger? If you had a Redox Signalling Supplement?

Redox Signaling Science For All!

Redox Signaling Science For All!

Redox Signaling – Essential to health!

In the normal course of metabolism, your cells produce a balanced set of reactive molecules once thought to be nothing more than by-products. In the last decade, scientists have discovered that these molecules – Redox Signaling molecules – are actually essential to cell protection, damage control communications, antioxidant activation, and the healing process.

Only two sources.

Your body is an amazing machine, capable of renewing itself and restoring health. Redox Signaling molecules play a crucial role in this extraordinary process. Your body makes a supply of these molecules every day, but this ability decreases with age. If you want a supply of Redox Signaling molecules from outside the body, there is only one place in the world to get it: ASEA.

We live and die at the cellular level.

Every aspect of our health begins with the condition of our cells. Cells that are damaged, stressed, and slow to recover diminish the body’s ability to maintain a healthy balance. Cells that protect and heal themselves quickly result in improved health. ASEA provides a proper balance of special Redox Signaling molecules that help your cells function at peak performance.

Protect. Repair. Replace.

The health of our cells determines the health of our bodies. Our cells are designed first to protect themselves, second to repair any damage that does occur, and finally to replace a cell that experiences irreparable damage. The cell’s ability to do this depends on how quickly and efficiently it can communicate, both inside and outside the cell. ASEA boosts the cell’s communication functions, allowing it to protect, repair, and replace at optimum efficiency.

Beyond natural. Elemental.

Everyone touts the latest juice or supplement as being “natural.” Sometimes, it’s even “all-natural.” But the truth is that it’s still foreign to the human body. ASEA, on the other hand, goes beyond natural. ASEA is elemental, providing the same reactive molecules your body already produces. Your body loves it because it belongs.

Go native.

The Redox Signaling molecules in ASEA are native to the body. That’s different because other supplements try to help the body by providing external nutrients. ASEA isn’t outside help – it’s simply more of what the body already produces, in a perfectly balanced, remarkably stable form.

C2C.

The most important link in maintaining your health is cell-to-cell communication. Poor communication between cells often leads to auto-immune issues and diminished ability to protect your health. ASEA works to improve and maintain cell-to-cell communication at optimum levels, allowing your body’s immune system to function at peak performance.

Molecular health.

We talk about cellular health, and ASEA definitely goes that deep – and beyond. ASEA works on the molecular level, with Redox Signaling molecules that do what science has known about for years, but has only now duplicated.

Antioxidants, activated and accelerated.

No doubt about it, antioxidants are good for your body. They help rid the body of cell-damaging free radicals. But in order to work efficiently, antioxidants need to be activated with molecules called “reductants.” Until ASEA, these molecules were only produced within the body itself. Now you have another source for these extraordinary antioxidant activators: ASEA.

Mastering the master antioxidant.

Glutathione is known as the “master antioxidant” because of the tremendous benefit it provides for the body. The only problem is that glutathione is only produced in the body; studies have shown that taking glutathione orally really doesn’t help. But this is where ASEA steps in. Scientific research has shown that drinking ASEA helps the body actually produce more glutathione. So help your body do what it should do, even better!

You can’t beat zero.

When it comes to toxicity, nearly everything you eat or drink can become too much of a good thing. But not with ASEA. Because the solution of Redox Signaling molecules found in ASEA is identical to what your own body produces, you get all the benefits with absolutely zero toxicity.

Don’t fight it.

Your body knows how to take care of itself. Let it do its job. Help it do its job. ASEA takes the antioxidants your body already makes and the ones it absorbs, and activates them. It’s natural nutrition enrichment, and it means your body can do what it’s meant to do.

Nutritional deficiency is not the problem.

Plenty of people are getting plenty of good food to eat. But they’re still not healthy because the antioxidants in that food aren’t activated. That’s how we get well-fed, yet undernourished people. We don’t have a nutrition problem; we have an activation problem. The solution? JOIN ASEA

Discover your body´s natural balance

Prepared by: Gary Samuelson, Ph.D. Robertson D. Ward, M.D., FAAFP David Carpenter, N.D., C.Ac., C.C.I.

The North Carolina Research Campus, and the Appalachian State University Human Performance Laboratory, under the direction of Dr. David Nieman’s world renowned team of scientists, uncovered new findings proving that the consumption of ASEA empowers humans to shift the availability of free fatty acids. These calorie sources represent a more favorable and efficient source of fuel for exercise and all daily life activity.

Facts about Our Metabolism

Cells inside our body breathe! The processes of metabolism at a cellular level involves the consumption of molecular oxygen and large molecule energy sources (sugar, glycogen, fatty acids, and amino acids). Through the process of oxidative phosphorylation (cellular respiration…breathing!) the cells create energy (ATP). The mitochondria in our cells do this work, and this is where Redox Signaling molecules are created.

Metabolism and Athletes

We understand that our cells always strive to run at the greatest efficiency possible. Through the conditioning of our bodies, our cells learn to use certain fuel sources preferentially. We are all familiar with the fatigue and pain that happens after rigorously exercising out-of-shape muscle groups. This happens because the muscle exhausts the standard glycogen source for fuel and then shifts to anaerobic metabolism (using fuel without oxygen), which forms lactic acid metabolites. But trained distance runners have conditioned their bodies to utilize a different fuel source: fatty acids (which are 6 times more energy-providing than other sources). By using fatty acids, these athletes preserve their muscle glycogen stores for strenuous bursts, like at the end of races, and that means greater endurance.
This is important. Endurance athletes actually condition their bodies to use fatty acids as a preferred fuel source, sparing muscle glycogen and increasing endurance.

Specific Metabolite Research Findings with ASEA:

The astonishing results of this randomized, double-blinded, crossover, placebo-based research showed that after one week of drinking 4 ounces of ASEA daily, the test subjects demonstrated a shift in 43 of 108 metabolites measured from the blood sample. These shifts were revealed using ultra-sensitive mass-spectroscopic measurement techniques. These shifts were so great that it was thought that there might be a software anomaly and scientists requested a manual inspection to verify data.
The largest metabolite shifts were in serum fatty acids. Again, these shifts happened after one week of consumption and before any athletic activity. Fatty acids are typically mobilized from abdominal body fat stores. They included myristic acid, palmitic acid, oleic acid, stearic acid, palmitelaidic acid, and capric acid. Don’t let the “acid” part throw you off; these are sources of fuel for the human body.
The chemical markers of these fatty acids are called “metabolites,” and their various concentrations in our blood represent a fingerprint of our metabolic balance. The metabolite shifts found due to ASEA ingestion are profound and very beneficial to health, since these shifts mimic what the body does when seeking fuel efficiency; that is, using fatty acids as a preferred fuel source and sparing muscle glycogen.
These important metabolite changes have resulted in applications for new patents for ASEA, and have prompted further studies at the North Carolina Research Campus. Additionally, all of these changes occurred without any evidence of toxicity whatsoever on any basic organ functions in liver and kidney tissue.

Conclusions

These initial results from a larger study on athletic performance have demonstrated that ASEA, which is composed of Redox Signaling molecules, has a profound impact on mobilization of fatty acids as they aid with efficiency in cellular respiration. This favorable pattern of increased availability of fatty acids for fuel consumption represents a foundational shift in our metabolic fingerprint – a shift toward more effective patterns of fuel usage and energy output.

Redox Signaling Moleculs Science

What are Redox Signaling molecules?

Reactive Oxygen Species and Reduced Species Our cells are literally filled with and surrounded by salt water, which becomes the principal raw material for building simple redox signaling molecules. Simple Redox Signaling molecules are simple molecules formed from rearrangements of the atoms in water (H20) salt (NaCl) and nitrogen (N2), the most abundant molecules of life. A few examples of simple redox signaling molecules are hydrogensuperoxide (HO2), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and Nitric Oxide (NO), there are many more. Redox Signaling molecules can fall into two classifications, Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and Reduced Species (RS). When isolated, most of the individual Redox Signaling molecules are potently toxic, reactive and unstable. However, in all forms of life on planet earth, cells have learned to manufacture stable, non-toxic mixtures of ROS and RS that serve fundamental roles inside and outside the cells.

Perfectly pH balanced (7.35)

Mixture In our blood, cells and tissues, perfectly balanced, stable safe mixtures of Redox Signaling molecules exist. It turns out that such mixtures have close to neutral pH (7.35) which is the average pH of blood and fluids carefully maintained in our bodies. It should be noted that such stable balanced mixtures of Redox Signaling molecules CANNOT be formed by simply stirring together individual components (which would be toxic and imbalanced), non-toxic Redox Signaling complexes are formed electrochemically and enzymatically by complex reactions inside the cells and tissues. The perfectly balanced complex mixtures of ROS and RS of Redox Signaling mixtures in the body, naturally having close to neutral pH and neutral Redox potential (RP), can balance chemical equilibrium as required depending on the chemical environment they are in. This is the beauty of Redox Signaling messengers, they are everywhere and participate in all of the processes of life.

Species containing chlorine

Some of the Redox Signaling complexes in our body contain chlorine. This is not the same form as the unbalanced crude forms of molecular chlorine and bleach (Cl2, NaOCl) that are used to sanitize pools and water supplies. Such unbalanced forms of chlorine are notably irritating and toxic, though still tolerated. In fact, certain unbalanced mixtures are the primary weapon of choice for the immune system and are potently effective against microbes. Perfectly balanced Redox Signaling mixtures, in contrast, have zero toxicity are not irritating, even soothing, and are safe for all tissues in the body, including the eyes. These balanced mixtures of Redox Signaling molecules already exist in large concentrations in all tissues and fluids in the body and are able to be easily handled by all tissues. The secret is balance.

Produced by Mitochondria

The primary source of Redox Signaling molecules in living cells is the mitochondria. The mitochondria live inside the cells and produce 95% of all of the energy (ATP fuel) used in the body. There are anywhere from 10 to 5000 mitochondria in every cell. Collectively these organelles comprise more than half of the dry weight of the body. As mitochondria metabolize simple sugars from the foods we eat into the ATP cell fuel, they also produce copious amounts of ROS and RS that are quickly mixed, stabilized and balanced by enzymatic action inside the cells to form balanced Redox Signaling complexes and mixtures. These balanced Redox Signaling mixtures float around the cell and are easily neutralized by the antioxidant barriers that are placed in strategic areas in the cell to protect sensitive structures from potential damage, such as the DNA. As long as these Redox Signaling mixtures are kept balanced, the antioxidant barriers are easily able to neutralize them, by turning them back into salt water and nascent oxygen. Such Redox Signaling molecules serve as signaling messengers and carriers in all cells and tissues of the body.

ASEA for Athletes

Athletic Performance – The ASEA Advantage

The Need For More

It’s no secret to athletes that even a small increase in their ability to perform or recover can make a significant difference in achieving their goals. Conditioned athletes typically have the increased need for enhanced nutrition, improved recovery support and the ability to maintain a healthy chemical balance inside cells, all because of the stress they put on their bodies.
While improved diet and specialized training certainly help improve performance, the challenges of strenuous physical activity mean that athletes need more.

The ASEA Advantage

ASEA, the original and only Redox Signaling product available today, provides the body with two perfectly balanced sets of reactive molecules – the same molecules produced naturally by the mitochondria in every cell of the human body. These vitally important molecules support the production of the ATP energy that fuels out cells, help activate antioxidants, minimize cellular damage, enhance cellular communication and speed the healing response – all functions critical to athletic performance, endurance and recovery.

ASEA – Proven to Enhance Physical Performance

ASEA is the first and only stable, perfectly balanced mixture of these reactive molecules that exists outside the body, a breakthrough in athletic performance once thought impossible.
ASEA is as safe as any product on earth. The company has spent millions of dollars in numerous studies and testing to establish that ASEA is extremely safe for all users. In addition, these studies have yielded impressive results that excite the world of athletics. Two studies in particular, stand out for their findings:

ASEA Study #1

In an independent laboratory trail, after only two weeks of ASEA supplementation, the athletes experienced a large increase in their VT (ventilatory threshold – the time it takes to hit the ‘runners wall’), increasing their running distance before encountering their VT by an average of more than 12%. In fact, some athletes increased their power output and endurance over 30%!

ASEA Study #2

A 2012 double-blind, cross-over study from researchers at Appalachian State University measured the influence of ASEA on small molecules (called metabolites) that shift in response to supplementation. The findings were extremely promising:
  • There was a ‘massive’ free fatty acid mobilization PRIOR to exercise, to levels normally found only after heavy exercise
  • This mobilization should allow athletes to maintain performance levels longer
  • Fatty acid release is coming from fatty adipose – the body’s largets energy reserve
  • Muscle glycogen stores are likely spared as a result of fatty acid mobilization, giving athletes a reserve of energy when they need it

5 Reasons Athletes Should Use ASEA:

  1. Scientifically Supported. ASEA s based on more than 16 years of research, making it a safe and natural way to help your body function as it should. Additional trials have proven its ability to improve athletic performance in various ways.
  2. Boost Energy. By supporting overall cellular health, ASEA can enhance the metabolic processes that produce energy for the body. For instance, ASEA appears to quickly mobilize the body’s fatty acid reserves while sparing glycogen stores.
  3. Superior Antioxidant Protection. ASEA accelerates the production of the body’s own antioxidants, including glutathione, SOD and catalase. It also increases the effectiveness of these antioxidants by over 500%.
  4. Athletes Approve. Literally thousands of athletes have reported that ASEA has a wide array of benefits – shortened recovery times, more energy, less soreness, increased VT (ventilatory threshold) and endurance, and overall better performance.
  5. Comprehensive Support. ASEA provides comprehensive support for athletes in 6 key areas; Power, Strength, Endurance, Energy, Mental Function and Recovery.
